EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

The eucharistic minister helps to prepare for the weekend masses. He/she helps the pastor to distribute communion to the assembly.

MANDATORY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

He/she normally arrives at least 15 to 29 minutes befor mass. the minister prepares what is necessary for the Eucharistic Rite during mass(wine, cups, puts key in the tabernacle,etc.). After mass cleans up and makes sure that everything is ready for the next mass. The minister helps pastor distribute the eucharist/wine during mass. He/she attends meeting when held and gets a replacement if unable to perform duties when scheduled.

QUALIFICATIONS

The person must be a baptized member of the Catholic Church and has duly prepared and appropriately commissioned for this role. He/she must be devoted to and understand the importance of the liturgical celebration of the Church community. The person has participated in a training and orientation session(s).

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is a volunteer position requiring about 1-2 hours a month. the person must attend the orientation and training sessions. You should arrive at the church about 20 minutes before mass.

SCREENING MEASURES

this is a low risk position. Completion of an information form is required. Also there will be supervision and periodic evaluation.
